ALLAH ASKS US TO HAVE GOOD MANNERS
Here are some verses of the Qur’an where Allah asked us to have good manners:
1. “When you are greeted with a greeting, greet in return with what is better than it; or (at least) return it equally.” (Al Qur’an# 4:86)
2. “O you who believe, do not enter homes other than yours without permission from their inhabitants, and without greeting them. This is better for you, that you may take heed.” – (Al Quran# 24:27)
3. “And the true servants of the Gracious God are those who walk on the earth humbly and when the ignorant address them, they avoid them gracefully by saying, `Peace!'.”(Al Qur’an# 25:63)
4. “You shall not treat the people with arrogance, nor shall you roam the earth proudly. GOD does not like the arrogant show-offs.” (Al Qur’an# 31:18)
5. “If they pass by some vain speech or play, they pass by it with dignity.” (Al Qur’an# 25:72)
6. “Walk humbly and lower your voice - the ugliest voice is the donkey's voice.” (Al Qur’an#31:19)
7. “Tell the believing men that they should restrain their gaze, and guard their private parts and chastity. This is what is purer for them. God is fully aware of all that they do.” ( Al Quran # 24:30)
8. “O ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others: It may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): Nor let some women laugh at others: It may be that the (latter are better than the (former): Nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other, nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness, (to be used of one) after he has believed: And those who do not desist are (indeed) doing wrong.” ( Al Quran# 49:11)
9. “And (remember) when We made a covenant with the Children of Israel, (saying): Worship none save Allah (only), and be good to parents and to kindred and to orphans and the needy, and speak kindly to mankind; and establish worship and pay the poor-due. Then, after that, ye slid back, save a few of you, being averse.” (Al Qur’an# 2:83)
10. “Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, never say "Ugh" to them (say not to them a word of contempt), nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour.” (Al Quran # 17:23)
11. “And let not those among you who are blessed with graces and wealth swear not to give to their kinsmen, the poor, and those who left their homes for Allah’s cause. Let them pardon and forgive. Do you not wish that Allah should forgive you?” (Al Qur’an# 24:22).
12. “Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the foolish.” (Al Qur’an# 7:199)
13. “Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people – and Allah loves the doers of good.” – (Al Quran# 3:134)
14. “O ye who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for Allah can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest ye swerve, and if ye distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily Allah is well- acquainted with all that ye do.” (Al Quran # 4:135)
15. God said, `Then go down hence; it is not for thee to be ARROGANT here. Get out; thou art certainly of those who are abased.' - ( Al Quran # 7:13)
16. “Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful.” – (Al Quran #4:36)
17. “Go, both of you, to Pharaoh, for he has transgressed all bounds; but speak to him a GENTLE SPEECH, may be he pays heed and fears (the consequences).” - ( Al Quran # 20:43-44)
18. “And if someone is in hardship, then [let there be] postponement until [a time of] ease. But if you give [from your right as] charity, then it is better for you, if you only knew.” - (Al Quran # 2:280).
19. “GOD commands you to give back anything the people have entrusted to you. If you judge among the people, you shall judge equitably. The best enlightenment indeed is what GOD recommends for you. GOD is Hearer, Seer.” ( Al Quran # 4:58)
20. “Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah , the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveller, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.” – ( Al Quran #2:177)
21. “And if two parties of believers fight each other, make peace between them; then if after that, one of them transgresses against the other, fight the party that transgress until it returns to the command of ALLAH. Then if it returns, make peace between them with equity, and act justly. Verily, ALLAH loves the just.” ( Al Quran # 49:9)
22. “And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful”- (The Holy Quran 49:12)
23. “Believe in GOD and His messenger, and give from what He has bestowed upon you. Those among you who believe and give (to charity) have deserved a great recompense”- ( Al Quran # 57:7)
24. “Even if you have to turn away from them, as you pursue the mercy of your Lord, you shall treat them in the nicest manner.” ( Al Quran # 17:28)
25. “Do ye enjoin right conduct on the people, and forget (To practise it) yourselves, and yet ye study the Scripture? Will ye not understand?” ( Al Quran # 2:44)
26. “Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed. Allah does not like transgressors.” – ( Al Quran # 2:190)
27. “O you who believe, you shall be absolutely equitable, and observe GOD, when you serve as witnesses. Do not be provoked by your conflicts with some people into committing injustice. You shall be absolutely equitable, for it is more righteous. You shall observe GOD. GOD is fully Cognizant of everything you do.” ( Al Quran # 5:8)
28. “O you who believe, intoxicants, and gambling, and the altars of idols, and the games of chance are abominations of the devil; you shall avoid them, that you may succeed.” ( Al Quran# 5;90)
29. “O children of Adam, take your adornment at every Masjid, and eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess.” – ( Al Quran #7:31)
30. “O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.” – (Al Quran # 49:13)
