At the time when hatemongering is ruling the roost in the world in general and in our beloved country in particular, let’s discuss how to tackle this social malaise. There may be many sources we can turn to for a lesson or two in this regard. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) presented a model in this regard. Here we need to assert that the entire life of the Blessed Messenger is a lesson in human fraternity. And the distinction that no other leader in human history could achieve is that he effected a bloodless revolution in the short span of 23 years of his Prophethood. 

Let’s take, for example, the Conquest of Makkah, one of the greatest events in the history of Islam. By the time this Conquest was achieved, it became clear that the Blessed Messenger and his companions observed all the clauses of the Peace Pact of Hudaybiyah in letter and spirit while the Quraish displayed perfidy and breach of trust on their part. This gave moral authority to the party of the Truth and helped the Muslims achieve this greatest success without the least labour and hardship.
